Contemporary African art

.🔹 Galerie ARTE — Statement

Founded in 1996 in Dakar, Galerie ARTE is dedicated to the promotion of contemporary African art. Over the past three decades, it has presented nearly 200 exhibitions locally and internationally, including in France and Belgium.

The gallery works with both emerging and established artists, several of whom are now recognized as key figures on the contemporary scene. It also maintains a significant collection of works available for acquisition.

Galerie ARTE is defined by a clear and uncompromising vision: a commitment to the primacy of aesthetics. The works it presents are chosen for their formal strength — the balance of material, form, and color — and for the presence they assert.

The gallery favors a direct, unmediated encounter with the artwork. It does not seek to impose meaning or interpretation. A work is not to be explained; it is to be experienced.

Each piece carries a distinct atmosphere — an underlying sensibility where the spirit of Africa is felt, rather than described.
